The tacos al pastor come from the gyros of Greece, the döner kebab from Turkey and the shawarma from Lebanon.

I'm a proud long-time member of the Oak Park community with four children involved in OP Schools as a PTO member and sports. We are excited to finally bring many years of zeal and inspiration to life. Tacos '76 was born from childhood memories of travels to my parent's homeland La Barca & Guadalajara, Jalisco. It is a tribute to my heritage and an homage to the vibrant and colorful neighborhood of Little Village.
Little Village is a community brimming with culture. It boasts some of the best Mexican food in the city & it feels like a small piece of Mexico tucked away on the southwest side of Chicago. I spent the first 25 years of my life calling it my home and soaking in the flavors & entrepreneurial spirit of the 26th street corridor. It was the primary source of inspiration that led me to pursue a degree in Entrepreneurship from DePaul University and later enroll at Kendall College of Culinary Arts.

As a first-generation Mexican-American, I've been immersed in the food and culture my entire life. Since I was a child, I traveled every summer to my parent's hometown of Guadalajara, Jalisco, the birthplace of Mariachis, Tequila, Birria & much more. I spent time with my family cooking and road tripping throughout Mexico. We shared many meals along the way while researching & enjoying countless taquerias, cenadurias, puestos and mercados. Later I trained and worked at some of the most amazing family owned taquerias in the Chicagoland area.
All of my experiences have kept me in touch with my roots and fueled my appetite for Mexican comfort food. My endless passion constantly leads me to travel back to Mexico to scout for new regional flavors and recipes, including those handed down from generation to generation. Tacos '76 is proud to highlight the beauty of Mexico's most popular street food, home cooked meals and our culture. We are happy to serve you our treasured family recipes and offer a menu of simple, fresh, quality & traditional Mexican comfort food that includes delicious tacos, burritos, quesadillas with traditional fillings, and much more! Tacos '76 is a family-friendly place that will transport you to the modern-day and vintage taquerias and mercados of Mexico & Little Village in Chicago. We have something for everyone & look forward to serving you!
